What is Joomla?
Joomla is an open source content management system, used to build websites which content is almost purely dynamic. From their website:
Joomla! is an award-winning Content Management System (CMS) that will help you build websites and other powerful online applications. It is used all over the world to power everything from simple, personal homepages to complex corporate web applications.
What is CakePHP?
CakePHP is a rapid development framework for PHP. It helps developers build robust applications, fast. Here’s what the CakePHP team says:
Cake is a rapid development framework for PHP which uses commonly known design patterns like ActiveRecord, Association Data Mapping, Front Controller and MVC. Our primary goal is to provide a structured framework that enables PHP users at all levels to rapidly develop robust web applications, without any loss to flexibility.
Why Jake?
Joomla! 1.5 and CakePHP each have robust application development frameworks. Jake connects both frameworks into a single, integrated environment that Joomla! and Cake developer communities can extend in ways yet unimagined. Stay tuned, Jake is going to enable some very cool applications.
