We are very pleased to announce that the first beta version of Jake 1.0.3 has been released. It is the first package released to the public, and allows you to run any number of CakePHP applications inside your Joomla website, without having to touch your existing code. A lot has been covered and added since the alpha versions, so the best thing you can do is reading the documentation to find out more about this release. Enjoy!

Congratulations on work well done. It is always interesting to see how different people leverage Joomla! to solve problems. I wish you the best of success and hopefully this will bring even more developers into the Joomla! community. The more the merrier!

Cool Amy! Thanks for the link :) Now I just need to check why Googlebot has suddenly dropped off Jake’s website pages, and taking so long to crawl it again…

    Mariano -

I want to introduce you to the guy at the top of this page. Louis Landry is *the* Lead Joomla! Developer and Core Team member. Wasn’t certain if you picked up on that significance of his post since you are a Cake Developer. ;-) Plus, Louis rocks - very cool guy.

Keep up the great work. This is important! Talk to you later!
    Amy :)

@Louis: Thanks for your nice comments and best wishes. I’m confident that Joomla’s userbase will continue to increase, as I sincerely believe 1.5 version is right on the money! Great job :)

@Amy: I didn’t realize that, thanks for the heads up. Keep in touch!

According to a recent news release, OSM has declared that all Joomla! extensions are now considered derivatives of Joomla! and must be released under GPL licensing. What is the stance of the developers here on that?

Hm.. last update on February, is this project dead?

  10. mariano.iglesias November 15, 2007 12:05 pm

@Aria: no, it’s not dead, just that i’ve been too busy lately to do a serious update. I’m planning to get on board of Jake once again very soon.

Ok, so glad to hear that :D

    Hi

First of all, I am sorry for posting this message in this topic and therefore going off-topic :)

I have never used a PHP framework. What would be the advantages of combining Joomla and CakePHP instead of just using Joomla for development?

With 1.5 coming and many improvements in Joomla’s own framework/API, will these advantages still be valid?

    Thank you for your time.

    hi,

jake is a wonderful idea, as of joomla 1.5 still i do not see custom ACL or custom groups in it. a simple tutorial to utilize joomla user authentication with cakephp’s ACL will be great .

    thanks
    irfan
